It’s built this way on purpose. The learning was never about grinding out a CLAUDE.md from a blank page — it’s in seeing the before and after, and making up your own mind.

What you’ll work through

Context Engineering — seven challenges, roughly ten minutes each. Each one ships a real artifact you keep, and the next builds on it. The CLAUDE.md you write first is still load-bearing at the end.

1	Where a rule lives	Instructions load in a stack by scope. A nested file never reaches up, so a rule belongs at the cheapest scope that still reaches it.
2	What earns a slot	Every always-loaded line is paid on every message. Keep only what Claude can’t work out alone — the usual failure is too much, not too little.
3	Depth costs the same as a rule	An `@import` pulls a whole file into every message. Depth belongs behind a pointer, followed only when the task needs it.
4	Tell it when to look	A pointer has to say when to follow it — that’s what turns a broad hunt into one directed read.
5	Give it a structure, it fills it	Seed a memory file’s shape and one reminder line; the agent maintains it unprompted. You architect the memory, it does the filling.
6	So it remembers next session	A memory file isn’t memory until it’s injected. Without the import, your notes are a file nobody opens.
7	The same correction, third time	A repeated correction is a config bug. Home the fix at the right scope — and know a rule can lose to what the codebase demonstrates.

Your work is proven by a fresh Claude session that never saw your conversation. That matters: config that works because you just explained it in chat isn’t config that works.
